IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – Rumours stop at the wise

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Rumours stop at the wise

Established in May 1981, the Greenwich Chinese Community and Mandarin School has made an outstanding contribution to the Chinese community in providing quality Chinese Language teaching for 36 years. In 2003, our school was awarded the winner of the Queens Golden Jubilee Award, naming all our volunteer teachers "Unsung Heroes". We were also the only Chinese Sunday school in the country to have received such an honour in the year for our longstanding community service in education.

Recently, we have noticed that false rumours are being spread on Facebook to mislead parents and the Chinese community at large, making unfounded allegation and speculation that our school has plans to close down the Cantonese section in 2 years, parents should therefore avoid sending their children to our Cantonese classes.

We do not know the intention of those who started the rumours. We would like to stress that these false allegations not only cause unnecessary worry among parents and students in the Chinese community but also severe damage to our school reputation.    The rumours can also be used inappropriately by others as an unethical tool to compete unfairly and illicitly.

Concerning the rumours, our school would like to clarify that the allegations being circulated are completely false and untrue. We strongly advise those responsible to immediately stop spreading false information about our school. We deem such behaviour as unacceptable, libellous and unlawful.

Further, we reserve all rights to take appropriate legal action against any individuals for any damages that may result from these false allegations.

For 36 years, Greenwich Chinese Community School has always striven and will continue in future to promote the Chinese culture as well as Chinese Language learning in the U.K.
